On behalf of all those living with type one diabetes (T1D) in South Carolina, I would like to personally invite you to join Jay and me in participating in the JDRF Palmetto Chapter Hope Gala – Field of Dreams. Each year, JDRF selects a local family and or company to honor for their support of JDRF. I am proud to announce Jay and I have been selected as Honorees for the 2018 Gala.
Unrelated to diet or lifestyle, T1D causes lifelong dependence on injected insulin and carries the constant worry of life-threatening complications. It requires intensive, ongoing supervision. There is no reprieve, and there is no cure—yet. Finding that cure may provide freedom to those living with T1D, but the research is not free. The annual health care costs associated with T1D is $14.9 billion and with 30,000 new diagnoses every day, this cost will only increase.
Maintaining a strong momentum is essential until our ultimate goal is met, which is why our family is partnering with JDRF. Together, we will help those with this autoimmune disease manage their challenges, while continuing to work towards finding a cure.
I invite you to join me in supporting the JDRF Hope Gala – Field of Dreams on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Spirit Communications Park, home of the Columbia Fireflies. Since 2004, our family together with AMCOL Systems has been an exceptional community partner to JDRF. JDRF is equally exceptional in providing hope to the millions of men, women and children living with T1D. We chose to team up with JDRF because diabetes affects our 13 year old grandson, as well as so many of our friends and colleagues. We all know someone whose life has been impacted by diabetes, and I encourage you to participate in the Hope Gala to help make a difference.
Thank you in advance for your generosity and support.
Sincerely,
Mary & Jay Rickman
